I installed Kdenlive from the software repos for Debian Stretch.

However when I add a clip and place it in a track, Nothing happens when I press play. There is no video playing although no errors are reported either. Play arrow becomes pause arrow untill I stop it.
The video files are m4v and openshot and every other video editor plays them.

Isnt m4v supported? or why doesnt kdenlive play videos at all.? I tried other formats too, and it has the same problem.

The appimage works thanks.. The latest natively installed version (18-12-1) I could find for Debian through flatpack refuses also.
There must be some library missing that is not reported in the installed version.

I now see that there is a warning about Debian stable being stuck with 0.9.10. t
That is ancient !!

"Unfortunately users of Debian stable are still stuck with 0.9.10 which is unsupported."

Whats up with Debian entertaining such old versions?

Seems I will have to continue with appimage until I can find the sources.

I cannot find the sources on the download page "https://kdenlive.org/en/download/"
Any idea where they are ? as I rather want to install natively than to do an appimage for permanent use.
