What do you think about version 19.04 of kdenlive?

when I use apt to not have problems with the speed effect I simply edited the .xml and removed the negative values. When I use appimage I do not know how to do this and the only precaution is not to use negative values, I never had problems with this effect and believe me I have used it a lot in kdenlive.
If I needed to invert a clip what I did was with the project folder assistant in "clip jobs" with the magnificent assistant I would invest it and then export the mlt in video if I needed to edit more.
But in the appimage of version 19.04 there is no longer a wonderful speed effect that was very useful for synchronizing clips with audio.
Only change the min value from -2000 to 1 and the problems are over
Code: Select all
<!DOCTYPE kpartgui>
<effect tag="timewarp" id="speed" type="av" unique="1">
   <name>Speed</name>
   <description>Make clip play faster or slower</description>
   <author>Brian Matherly</author>
   <parameter type="constant" name="speed" max="2000" min="1" default="100" factor="100" suffix="%">
      <name>Speed</name>
   </parameter>
</effect>

It seems most of (all?) your problems come from not finding/controlling the speed effect, which is only a tiny part of the video editor.
Actually, it is even surprising that you used it before: there were so many bugs reported for it, hard to fix with the old code!
Regarding effects, we just have hidden the ones that we couldn't make work; one mistake was that the search function was looking only in one category, but this was soon reported and fixed...
Now several professional editors have completed big projects and the feedback is that new version is much more robust (almost never crashes anymore, nor falls into corrupted states) and smoother. But agreed that this is for certain workflows, some with special uses we don't anticipate can get stuck, then we encourage to come telling your story on our chat channel, maybe report the bug if not already done, so that we can fix it quickly.
In the meantime, you can still work with 18.12 appimage, and test from time to time the 19.04 updates if we have solved your problems.
Thanks anyway for testing, and please explain precisely what you want (not just "was better before") :)

I do not know anything about programming, I'm an audiovisual technician and maybe a perfectionist too. I have taken this whole issue too seriously, I decided to notify bugs to help but I feel that I do not help, I feel that I am bothering, so maybe it is best to throw in the towel and start considering that Gnu/Linux users are currently we still do not have a professional alternative to edit video, although there is always Blender and a new project in development called Olive that I am liking. For what I apologize for having bothered with my perceptions and comparisons with the previous version. :|

I miss effects groups and would like the colour correcting tools to be keyframeable.

Issue 261&262 should be solved (clip job -> duplicate clip with speed change). Please test with today's daily build: https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/Kden ... /artifact/
