Effects and transitions

Fri Sep 06, 2019 5:06 am
Hey yall,
I've been using kdenlive for a while first on linux then window. I used to be able to download extra effects, translations, titles etc. I can't find the place to do that now. I'm using the most recent version.
If this is in the wrong place, sorry.

Is very tricky to add custom wipes (that i think are the only things you can import)
the titler tool has no effects... if you want custom texts is better to create it using an external tool.. or online tool (for example: https://cooltext.com )
other things you can import are the color themes (just for the IDE) ...

there are a lot of tutorials on youtube about creation of some kind of visual effects/image manipulation.. but Kdenlive is a video editing software, not something like AFTER EFFECTS ... or CINEMA 4D... BLENDER... this mean that you can make a DOCUMENTARY, a MOVIE... using cut/paste function, audio syncronization, titler,color/light manipulation, fading effects...images animation... but that's all. (for now)
i "landed" on Kdenlive because i love opensource (i'm on windows.. and here this is not usual.. a lot of people prefer piracy) .. and i love to NOT PAY to do my hobby (youtube videos)

here an example on how to add a new WIPE effect to Kdenlive: ( https://github.com/andeon/Kosette-Transitions )

Image

the folder is: C:\Program Files\kdenlive\bin\data\kdenlive\lumas\HD

creating a new WIPE on a clip.. on the effect selection there are now all the Kosette transitions...

here a video about Kosette transitions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FsPuSjDGT0

you can find also some other transitions effects here: https://www.app-addons.org/browse/cat/333/order/latest/

Never mind, I stumbled around and found they're already there. On another matter, I can't get the timeline to move when I click on it.

Sorry just reading again your post...

the lumas/wipe effect can be downloaded using the "compositions" efefct list.. there is a button with an arrow on the top of the list...(near the favorites star)
the titler tool templates can be downloaded using the "titler tool" pressing the button same button located on the top of the tool near the "save as" button

i suggest you to use Linux, because on Windows the path where the effects are downloaded is wrong.

link to a Windows issue about these 2 kind of effects/templates: https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/issues/930
