Hi

I recently upgraded from Plasma 4 to 5; my Kdenlive version is now 19.04.0.

When I open my old projects, I get an instant crash (core dump). It happens on all of them.
Of course I removed the old configuration files.

The result of the following command is available at http://jice.free.fr/files/trace.txt
$ kdenlive kdenlive/voeux\ 2019/2019.kdenlive
(kdenlive file: http://jice.free.fr/files/2019.kdenlive)

Just in case, I did the same with strace: http://jice.free.fr/files/strace.txt

If I open the project through the UI it also crashes the same.

Would someone have an idea?

TIA

JC

[Edit 22/9/19 13:29] Also tried 19.08.0 using the appimage, same result.
[Edit 22/9/19 17:00] Add URL to one of my old .kdenlive files - all giving the same result

Is a know "issue" (maybe not an issue) .. old projects are different from newest.
This happens for a lot of software applications (not only for this video editor) ... and Kdenlive is a work in progress, this mean that on future probably the project structure can change again... (better to conlude all projects before switching to a new major release)

Thanks.
Are the changes in the xml format documented somewhere so that I can try and fix my old projects?
TIA

Hello,
How did you get Kdenlive (distro package, which one ?)
You can try with latest AppImage (19.08.3), you may get better stability.
For a crash, it is always good to get a backtrace, you normally can get it through DrKonqi.
Kdenlive dating from Plasma 4 might be very old, our file format has seen many changes since then...
In a near future, maybe my OpenTimelineIO adapter might be able to regenerate a clean Kdenlive project, but we should in any case fix our backward compatibility.
