Core i7 or Ryzen 7 for 4k editing?

Mon Oct 07, 2019 9:59 am
Hi,
what is better for 4k video editing from my camera FujiFilm XT3, with videobitrate 400 Mbit/s ?
Core i7-9700 or Ryzen 7 3700x ?
I will use Kubuntu and Kdenlive.
Thank you for your experience and opinions.

I doubt any of the configurations will be able to edit 4k at 400mbit smoothly. So i guess you will use proxy files anyway. Because of the excellent driver support by intel I swear on the internal intel graphic chips of my i7. I have no dedicated graphic adapter.

Ryzen will be as fast or faster, and cheaper, but driver development is slow...especially if you're using a Debian/Ubuntu based distro, such as KDE Neon.
