Suggestion for smoother previewing.

Wed Oct 30, 2019 4:18 am
One of the biggest annoyances is the stuttering video previewer, which is not the fault of KDEnlive, but a result of putting too many clips on top of each other. This can be a problem even on stronger computers.

I suggest the following improvements to the previewer:

  • Allow skipping more frames but having non-stuttering playback.
  • Ability to select lower preview resolution (possible as soon as KDEnlive project use relative object position values) for smoother previews.
  • Ability to limit the preview framerate (I would be happy with stable 15fps of preview)
  • These features should be quickly accessible under the preview menu.

Side note: I have noticed that on Linux Mint, there are black icons on top of the dark theme, which are poorly visible.
