When two clips are overlapped and I'm looking for the little green box for the wipe there are two little spinning circles there. Does anyone know what they are there for?

circles on borders of clips (usually) are made to create a fade to black or volume fading rapidly.. moving left and right the circles increase/reduce the fading time.
