lowest quality but bigger file?

Fri Jun 05, 2020 1:27 pm
hello,

i have tested 2 render configurations
Image Image

The 1st one is set to lowest quality (video and audio) but the generated file is bigger than with the second configuration.
How is this possible?

Hello,
The quality slider is normally reversed, pushing to the right giving smaller "CRF" index. Maybe it is due to the windows widget style? (could you confirm?)
With all constant-quality encoders, the quality factor is actually a loss factor, so lowering it means nicer output and bigger file.
It is agreed that our rendering dialog is not the best user experience moment, difficult exercise...

I'm not sure to understand when you say " Maybe it is due to the windows widget style?" widgets are disabled, i use windows 7, the classic theme

i have just reversed the values 63,10 to 10,63 and 256,64 to 64,256 and tryed the 5 different positions of the slider, the 5th (extremely right position) gives a bigger size than the 4th (ok), which is bigger thand the 3rd position (ok) but the 3rd is smaller than the 2nd position (not ok).
it's not coherent, the 2nd position should gives a smaller file if we continue to push the slider to the left.
Can you test the parameters/values i wrote on the screenshots and note what i describe pls?
