pi@TOS-T1:~ $ sudo kdenlive
QStandardPaths: XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not set, defaulting to '/tmp/runtime-root'
Empty filename passed to function
Loading effects from "/usr/share/kdenlive/effects"
Could not initialize GLX

are there any ideas how to solve it ?

you are trying to launch GUI program in root permission. it is highly discouraged since it causes major security bug. do not attach sudo in front of every command.
kdenlive is heavy program. it cant run on raspberry pi in productive reason.

I know this is kind of an old post but I also have the same issue. I get the same "Could not initialize GLX" error on 64-bit Raspberry OS.
Last year it did run on Raspberry pi 4 (8Gb version) and on 32-bit OS. But it would be nice to be able to run it also on 64-bit OS.

And yes I am well aware that the Kdenlive is a heavy program and it's not productive in anyways to use it on Raspberry pi platform. But the key is that it's not for production it's for tinkering and learning.

Also 8Gb Pi4 runs Kdenlive surprisingly well. Specially considering it's size and power. I did manage to create a over 30min video with transitions and other effects in it. Sure the rendering did take some time due to the fact that Kdenlive only used single core. But otherwise the workflow was really similar or equal to a lowspec HP laptop. ;D

I can't speak for others but at least I'm ok taking the hit on productivity because I'm not trying to produce a next Youtube blockbuster I'm just tinkering with it. I have time to wait for it to render. :)

I'm struggling with this same error really being able to play around with kdenlive is just a learning experience for me and I'm not trying to do any major productions just want to learn how to do some video editing on my pi and then I'll most likely move back to my PC or Mac but this is kind of my playground. I'm having the same error of "Could not initialize GLX". If anyone knows how to fix this it would be amazing to learn how to use kdenlive.

I was finally able to get KDENLIVE to install on Raspbian OS 64bit by doing a

Code: Select all
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade && sudo apt full-upgrade
sudo apt install kdenlive kdenlive-data
