I wonder if it is possible to make an animated map like this in Kdenlive or other open source software ?

Yes, with rotoscoping. Arkengheist has several tutorials on her Youtube channel.
It essentially requires two images: one with the map and one with the path. You then composite them in kdenlive and use rotoscoping for the animation.
