Is the latest standalone version of Kdenlive doesn't work anymore in Windows 7?

This warning tell you to install the universal visual c runtime ( KB2999226 ) for Windows 7 ( this happened to a lot of open-source application on Windows 7 and Windows 8 because the default visual studio compiler now builds for the universal runtime .. and probably there is a Kdenlive component compiled by latest Visual studio) this is for example a link to Libreoffice when this happened on 2018 (and right now is the same) https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question ... m-working/ and also for paint.net (2016) https://blog.getpaint.net/2016/12/12/pa ... available/ Microsoft seems to not promote these DLL because they don't want anymore Windows 7 or Windows 8 on the road... btw the installer is the Windows6.1-KB2999226-x64.msu and the link for Windows 7 64 SP1 is here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=49093 it needs some prerequisites to work.. but i suggest you to install latest CONVENIENCE ROLLUP pack (aka SP2) for Windows 7 before installing the Universal runtime i can't ask developers to switch to an onlder runtime because to every sorftware i saw on the past the final option was to use a more recent and robust and performant visual C runtime (on Windows) and same happenend for every new suite ($$$) .. like Adobe... Autodesk .. etc... etc.. etc... (but this maybe need to be requested to V.Pinon) P.S. some infos about SP2 for Windows 7: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... e1e883051e |

Trying to make it work on my part following these instructions. But it seem not to work on my laptop. The new version worked in my other laptop that runs Windows 10. Hope you'll put in the system requirements in the download page that for these version the least requirement is Windows 10 only.
Thank you, Raf |

This is wrong and can't be do. A windows 7 SP1 with every update applied by windows update is able to start Kdenlive, i've tried on a test machine. (also a machine with 8.1 can launch Kdenlive after installation of 7 updates) maybe on next days i can write a guide about this. BTW you can try also to install the UPDATE 3 for Microsoft Visual c 2015 runtime: https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/downloa ... x?id=52685 |

I keep having the same problem after installing all the updates. I might have missed a step somewherer.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/14F3VSU ... sp=sharing Here are all the updates I have. I think I'm running only in Opengl 3. Is that the reason why I cannot run the latest version of Kdenlive. I have no problem running the latest version of Krita though. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WIS3eH ... sp=sharing Thank you for helping me troubleshoot this. |

I have installed that. I still have no luck making it work on Windows 7. But Kdenlive works perfectly on my Windows 10. In my WIndows 7, I'm having this when running 20.12
Do you know what's causing this? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OsqNTa ... sp=sharing |

Hi Bart,
I think thisinquiry is now solved with the new the version of Kdenlive, 20.12.3. Thank you so much. I hope I can contribute to this open source software. I do some UI and graphic designs. Just let me know what help I can do as a designer. Btw, I use kdenlive in most of the video edits in my Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/grafpxtv/ Thank you so much, Raf |

Hi Raf
Thank you for asking. Yes there are several areas to contribute about UI design like redesign the render dialog https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/issues/444. Or making new icons like for the same track transition https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/issues/796 following this guidelines https://develop.kde.org/hig/style/icons ... plication/ . BTW: for exchanging ideas we are on Telegram https://t.me/kdenlive_dev . |
