Video players accept SRT subtitles to have multiple lines, e.g.

When I try multiple lines in kdenlive it looks okay initially, but upon save/restore the newlines are replaced by carriage returns and there is a single line again.

Using <br> instead of newlines seems to work but is not documented.

How to obtain (and retain) multiple lines in subtitles?
