Some minor stuff

Tue Aug 17, 2021 8:19 pm
Hey,
I had just added a title clip and then changed the profile of my project to a higher resolution. Somehow kdenlive seems not to be able to resize the title clip to the profile size.

Another thing which is a bit annoying is to create credits title templates. You always do the same stuff. Creating a title template and adding all the credits and then the start and end animation. There could be some easier way to do this when you only have to fill in the names and roles and maybe sections. It could offer either scrolling through with a certain speed or fade in and out or some variants.

I really like that you can add subtitles on a special track (really helps to not do this with an external tool) but multiple tracks would be better or multiple languages per subtitle text. You should be able to specify a name per subtitle track and it should be possible to add them for example when creating an MKV file since I think that MKV containers allow you to store subtitle files inside.

The master effects are pretty useful. You could allow master effects but only for certain tracks (like grouping tracks).

Adding/inserting tracks etc. should be much easier to find than in the top level menu "Timeline" -> "Tracks". You could add some button next to the tracks or am I missing something.

For the distance tool (M) it would be really helpful if you could specify tracks which are NOT affected by it. Is it already possible? Maybe highlight which tracks are affected which are not. Sometimes you only want to move only certain tracks and make some space.

I would like to know how to improve the performance working with 4K UHD videos (except using proxy clips which takes a long time to generate them all). Does it use only the regular processor to process the clip or use the graphic card as well? I see no real options on how I could improve the performance. Increasing the number of threads for proxy clips and using proxy clips in general seem to be the only way.

Btw. there is a bug on Windows. When I minimize kdenlive and open the window again it always plays the sound of the current position.

As you can guess I am no expert on kdenlive. It just minor stuff from my experience. I really love this program!

Hello! i don't have answers for everything you've said but here's some stuff

You can save your title clip as a template, and then you don't have to redo the animation and stuff. You can also make a template with %s instead of your text, and then when you add the template title clip, you can fill in the text box and it will replace the %s. Unfortunately (to my knowledge), you can only have one of these %s.

The subtitle tool is very new, and it's still in development, so you could try a feature reques, but i'm almost sure it has already been suggested.

The master effects are pretty useful. You could allow master effects but only for certain tracks (like grouping tracks).

You could add your effect to each track individually, but i guess i see where you're coming from. Nested timelines are on their way and it could potetially replace this.

Adding/inserting tracks etc. should be much easier to find than in the top level menu "Timeline" -> "Tracks". You could add some button next to the tracks or am I missing something.

You can right click any track to add more tracks.

For the distance tool (M) it would be really helpful if you could specify tracks which are NOT affected by it. Is it already possible? Maybe highlight which tracks are affected which are not. Sometimes you only want to move only certain tracks and make some space.

You can lock tracks, which will then not be affected (little lock icon on the tracks).
