This is my first post in the forum and I appologize in advance in case this is not suitable because I know it is a little bit offtopic.

I am using the kdenlive appimage version which works fine in my computer (a laptop with a Nvidia RTX3060). I am using ArchLinux by the way.

On the other hand I am getting a black window when I try to use `melt` directly from the command line. This occurs even when use `melt`from within the AppImage.

What could be different between kdenlive and melt?

I think melt uses SDL2 under the hood for rendering. What about kdenlive?

Not sure I understand what you are trying to achieve with using "'melt' directly from the command line". If you are referring to MLT as the framework (see https://www.mltframework.org/docs/melt/) I would expect exactly that: I black window.
kdenlive uses MLT for rendering by passing on parameters and other data based on the edits and use of effects the user did put into the timeline.
