Hello,
I would be very interested to know which Linux distro you have the best experience with Kdenlive. I have been using Manjaro for almost 2 years and I am very satisfied. Or does the choice of distribution practically not matter? |

Hello
For my part I left Ubuntu in order to always have a recent version of Kdenlive (the packages being still late) and my choice is for Kdenlive. Although I have been several months under XFCE I returned to Gnome. No problem on my old PC of 2016 (Intel i7 4770K 3.5GHz on Asus A7V and CG AMD Radeon RX 5500/5500m). |

Hello moreaupi,
yes, I am also interested in the latest version of Kdenlive. That's why I have Manjaro. I'm afraid you forgot to share your distro. And why did you leave XFCE and switch to Gnome? |

Sorry, I'm null in English I use a translator.
I went back to Gnome because I had problems with the XFCE menus with the appearance of duplicates and impossible to remove them. I also had screen freeze, my mounting wheel (ShutlePro V2) lost some of its functions and the graphic tablet (Huion 1600) was not easy to configure (under gnome it is very easy to choose via a Graphics interface The screen corresponding to the graphics tablet). Under XFCE had to play the console with not always convincing results. |

thanks for the info.
If you want to translate, try https://www.deepl.com/translator And, as before, which Linux distro are you using? It's probably not crucial for Kdenlive, but it would be interesting for me. |

Hello
I started, a long time ago with the first available versions of Ubuntu (it goes back a long way, 2004 or 2005 I think ....) to have something other than Windows. Financially, I was frustrated to pay every 2 years for a product that was sometimes poorly developed and for inaccessible programs (a program like Kdenlive didn't exist in windows at a price for individuals). So I went for it! I tested Ubuntu, OpenSuse, Fedora and some others. I gave up on Opensuse because of the network configuration as I found that the French forum was not helping me! I was stuck. Fedora, again the French forum made me cold. I had the impression of being an undesirable who didn't understand anything about the answers given. Not being on the same level, even if it's very low, will only lead to a deplorable selfishness. I also tested some distributions that are difficult to access by a non-English speaker in case of problems. Ubuntu had some moments of misfortune with Unity for example and especially programs like Kdenlive or Freecad for example was blocked on an old version. In the case of the two programs mentioned, this was a pity. I decided to use a Rolling distribution, there are not many of them, hence my choice of Manjaro which I have been using for at least 2 years. With an updated distribution, I have less crashes with Kdenlive. It happens, just now, after a recent update of Manjaro, I notice a bug: when I add a title clip: after a few seconds, Kdenlive closes..... Usually, after a few seconds, everything is fine again. Thanks for the link Deepl. It will replace google translation even if I don't have all the languages (no Icelandic for example) |

Hello moreaupi,
good to hear from you, so you too have Manjaro. This is my only system, for 21 months, after almost 30 years of Windows. Video editing is extremely important to me, and there are hardly any good video editors on Linux. That's why Kdenlive means a lot to me. It is really sufficiently stable. Thank God for that. I look forward to writing to you again. |

Hello
Overall Kdenlive is stable. I had a lot of trouble with updates to any distribution. After changing my graphics card (from nvidia to AMD) no more problems. I've been using it for a while now. My 16G is sometimes just right and, at the moment, causes a crash (unexpected closure of Kdenlive). |

Oh, I notice that all Linux with LTS use an old or ancient Kdenlive. I much prefer the rolling release of Manjaro. Glad I ended up with the right distro for me.

Totally agree with mickae, that's one of the reasons that pushed me towards Manjaro, to have the Kdenlive version always on top....even if, sometimes, there can be a problem.
Worries that never last very long. |

Do you know any settings that improve the stability of Kdenlive on Manjaro?
(I ask because a small change in the setting in LibreOffice improved its stability tremendously: When using Intel-UHD (i.e. the integrated CPU graphics): Options → View -> disable: anti-aliasing.) |

Hello
After more than fifteen days of crash with the couple Kdenlive and Gnome I installed Manjaro Kde version and there I have no more problems. It seems that there is a problem between QT and GTK. |

That is very interesting. Ask about the conflict in the Manjaro forum. This forum is very active.
https://forum.manjaro.org/ How about XFCE? I use that and have rather rare crashes. |

The problem is that xfce is gtk I would have the same problems ....
I have already asked for help on the Foruim de Manjaro (in French) and it is well mentioned, according to the error messages displayed after the unexpected closure of Kdenlive, that it is a concern with GTK . Too bad because e galley less with gnome than kde in particular with my graphic tablet (Huion 1060+) configurable without big concerns under gnome. |

Not very pleasant, but highly interesting to hear.
You say that there is a problem with GTK? Is there no solution? I don't quite understand your thoughts yet, that may be due to the double translation: Frensh -> English -> German. Maybe you write me the essential again in very simple words, gladly also in French, then I must let it translate me only once from DeppL. |
