Hi all.

Sorry about my english. Its not my primary language.

Here is the thing: I have an video in mpeg4 avc. When I open the video in kdenlive just to export it using the same codec (its an test), the end result is the image of the video getting lower contrast and lower colors intensity.

Just for informative: When I reencode any video in "avidemux" with the default setting i get exacly the same problem but in avidemux I have an option to encode using "Full Range Samples". When I check this option and encode any video the end result is that the video has the same colors as the original, so all perfect. On kdenlive I coudnt find an option like that to solve this problem.

In shotcut I have the same problem but there is an option where I select "Color Range: FULL (JPEG)" and the problem is solved for any video I encode there.

Well, I dont know if I make myself clear on the explanation. I hope so.

Does anyone understand whats going on and how to solve it in kdenlive?

Ps.: The things I need to do with my videos I can do in shotcut without problemas but Im really impressed with the easy to do some stuffs on kdenlive that I would like to move all my workflow to kdenlive (with some other softwares) but if I cant solve this issue its a no go for me.

Thanks anyway and sorry to be dumb on this subject. Im new to video editing.

I never had this issue... my colors always still the same if I don't change anything. :)
I don't know if this will help you but there is an effect called Color Space where you can adjust the Output Color Range option to JPG (FULL range) I haven't tested it and I don't know if it works. :|

Farid suggested to select the "full luma range" i also tried to build some custom rendering profiles to preserve contrast... and also i experienced 2 difefrent controast using 2 different video cards and also using 2 different players (VLC and Mediaplayer for Windows).. lot of confusion still present.

yep. it seems like an problem with kdenlive since this same problem can be solved with single options on any other softwares (avidemux, premiere pro, premiere rush, shotcut and even blender has the same behavior but there is on option to solve it).

ill wait the next release to see if they can solve this. until that ill continue doing my works with other softwares but i would like, as explained, to move all my workflows to kdenlive.... lets wait and see, as i dont have the time to explore it to report as a bug.

bug report with the same problem but without resolution: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=425012#c18

vibits can you open a new issue here: https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/issues ?
maybe suggesting with screenshots or images how this is managed by shotcut (sources are available and kdenlive developers can look at them)
add link to this forum thread also. thank you

Just give the devs some time to sort through all of the stuff that accumulated over the holidays. There is only two of them and they took some time off, too.

Thanks!
