When I create a title clip it shows up in the Project Bin and the Timeline as a blank thumbnail and has no effect when previewing the project.
After I edit the title clip then click Update Title I get a Save Title popup saying:
You are editing an external title clip ([Path to project directory]). Do you want to save your changes to the title file or save the changes for this project only?
If I choose "Save to title file" nothing changes.
If I choose "Save in project only" then the thumbnails are updated and the clip works.

This seems like a settings issue to me. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

Did you create the title as a Title Template?

No. I used Add Title Clip in the dropdown.
Just tested it on a windows machine and it works fine.
Seems like this has something to do with my Ubuntu setup, or that it's a flatpak install.
My settings are the same otherwise between the two machines.

Going to try to reinstall again. See if that resolves it.

You may want to try the appimage version, too
