What is the function of the light green vertical bar on the far (right was wrong, I meen:) left of the timeline? I can toggle it on and off with the mouse, but I don't notice any difference.
This dialog also appears, but don't know for sure if it refers to this marker.
"Click to toggle tracks as target."

Did you mean the green bar on the far left of the timeline? If so: When you use V or B this is the track where the clip/zone goes. If not: I don't have a green bar on the far right of the timeline ...

Hello berndmj,
Oh, you're absolutely right: I mean that green bar on the far left.
Is it only for the function you describe (which I never use, although it is so highly praised)?

Is the green marking of A1, A2, V1, V2, etc. only to make the track ready to receive a clip by the V or B keys?

I like your suggestion, it could be that I will find pleasure in V and B.

The green box to the left of the track indicates that the track will receive clips via V and B. A grey box means it is invisible.

The green highlight of the track means that the track is active (grey means inactive) and will react to editing operations. A red highlight means it is locked.

Hello berndmj,
thank you very much for the help. But if I make a track A1 or track V1 gray, then nothing changes, I can edit both equally. What do you mean that the track then becomes inactive?
Red is clear, there goes nothing more, (because the lock is closed).

Click to make track active/inactive. Active tracks will react to editing operations > no difference!

For example, if you define a zone and then click on Extract Timeline Zone or Lift Timeline Zone, the inactive tracks are not affected by that action

Hello berndmj,
if that is the only function of the green or gray environment of A1, V1, etc., then fine.
I have hardly ever worked with these functions. Tried it: Works great, just as you wrote.
Also for this: Thanks a lot for your help.
