Hello. Im using kdenlive to happily edit video since 2 months ago.
Ive realized that in difference to other supported image files, I cannot import into the project .exr images.
When I add a single .exr image, it promps an error: cannot know the duration of the file. Do you want to transcode? If I choose yes and accept the following dialogue that asks me for the kind of file to transcode, it launches an error. File could not be transcoded.
I have seen that the .exr appear as a valid file to choose when you want to import an entire image sequence, but same happens.
I cannot impor .exr as single images, nor as a sequence. Anyone has managed to use them.? It happens to me both in windows and linux.
Am I missing something?

for what i discovered .. the EXR is a multi layer format (someting that can be compared with a project file for single images) soemthing like a "project" file (like .kdenlive for kdenlive... or .PPJ for premiere.. or .PSP for paint shop pro .. or .kra for krita .. etc ..etc )

this mean that layers/effects applied to the image needs to be processed by an image software and rendered as BMP PNG TIF or other "final" formats..

seems also that adobe premiere doesn't handle EXR format ( https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere ... p/12691454 )

I think it will probably not be implemented in Kdenlive... probably the only way to process a similar file is to automatically launch an external converter (like exrtopng) and process the output PNG ... or maybe create a method/protocol of exchanging files between krita and kdenlive automatically

Thank you. Thing is that I was very used to the proccess of exportin the rendered images from Blender Cycles as Exr, then use them to produce the video sequence in Davinci. I thought it could be done in Kdenlive.
I will produce the renders as Png.
