This version has a problem that previous versions did not have.
The first frame of the video added to the timeline is lighter than the other frames. It's as if the other frames were filtered, but I didn't apply any filters. Colors are darker. This occurs on all added videos.
Same result when the project is rendered.

Could not reproduce that in Linux with V. 23.04.0 (appimage).
Opened a new sequence (timeline) and added 2 clips as you describe.
No such problems, stepped through frame by frame.
A problem specific to Windows?

tested on latest build for Windows... but i have no issues using a standard MP4 file...

maybe it depends on your clip? can you share a short clip ?

video clip: https://www.mediafire.com/file/iwke2oyd ... -video.mkv
I recorded the MKV video clip in Windows 11 with OBS studio.
I tried the video clip with openShot. no problem.
I tried it with Shotcut. very few have the same problem.

When I click on another time in the timeline in kdenlive and try the same thing again, there is no problem. but the same problem occurs when I move the clip to another track.
This issue does not occur in previous kdenlive versions.

What happens if you cut that very first frame? Will then the second frame that is now the first frame be lighter?

I cut and delete the first frame. No problem.
but the same problem occurs when I move the first frame cut clip to another track.

Hmm, if you cut off the first frame and play the rest of the clip and it is ok, and then move the cut first frame (just that frame) and it is still lighter, that indicates to me that the first frame is botched.

So, on a, what: 30fps clip?, one frame would not be missed, would it? Problem solved.

deleting the first frame of the video clip does not fix the problem. See the problem in this video. https://youtu.be/4D2aJsZqj4E
when the first frame of the clip is deleted, there is no problem, but temporarily.
when I move the cut clip to another track, the first frame is lighter again.

on my PC there is bad contrast on first frame.. but after a while it's disappearing making first frame much more similar to others...

I think I found the cause of the problem. If render full color range is selected in the Rendering window, the first frame of the clips will be darker. Different video clips attached to each other in the timeline had the same problem with the first frame at the junction point (like the transition effect).

These problems do not occur when render full color range is not selected in the Rendering window.
