Hi there,

this year I went out to film nine diffent kinds of motorsports - a long run project from March until November. Yesterday the video has been shown on the award ceremony of the Lower Saxony Motorsport Championships in Germany to about 250 sportswomen and sportsmen. All types of motorsports shown in the video are part of the championships and lots of the guests saw themselves on screen.

It was my first (bigger) project that required a filming plan and a little bit of scripting for the shooting days on the track so that I did not miss to catch scenes that were essential for the movie that was already in my mind since I cut the music in February. My wife and I travelled some 1700 kilometers over the year and I started to assemble the fist clips in kdenlive in September. Having the movie in mind and all the important clips, cutting was quite fast with about 1,5 hours for a 40 second section.

As the movie is a 25fps project, I have shot the slowmotions in 50p, extracted full frames and then created a 25fps lossless clip which I used for the project. That was the only way to switch from realtime (slowmotion clip with 200% speed effect) to slowmotion at any frame without jittering. Funny enough that there is a jitter, when doing a 200%-100%-200%-100% sequence with the same clip as to be seen on the rallye slowmotion when going into the second slowmotion. If you like, I can post a shell script creating the lossless 50fps to 25fps slowmotions.

Anyway, it was great to get this project done and this the result

Have fun!
Achim
