We make videos with Kdenlive for our TROM project (which is trade free: we ask nothing in return for whatever we create - perhaps the "purest" form of "free"). We create trade-free videos (documentaries) and books since 2011. I love Kdenlive as we use only Open Source software to create our stuff: from books and videos, to the website.

At times I have to make 1h+ documentaries with Kdenlive, having 20+ layers, and it handles well. Rarely it crashes and this is very disappointing, but that is rare and because I love Open Source and especially Kdenlive I am never **** off enough to let it go. I just cannot find a better alternative for Linux, so thank you so much. I've been working with Sony Vegas in Windows for many years and I created a 14h documentary (TROM Documentary) in 2011 with it. Then I moved to Linux and continued video editing with Kdenlive.

As a side note: Kdenlvie flatpak is not working in Ubuntu 18.04 https://askubuntu.com/questions/1047149 ... ot-working and I find no help for that. Will try posting to Kdenlvie forums.

Apart from the wide range of transitions and cuts Kdenlive is so good at, I used some scripts I had written for some animated titles, Synfig for an animation, and Ardour to chop up the music.

was me proving to Javier Atencia, who has a radio program about technology, that a modular DIY phone I bought actually worked. Several effects, including sped up video, split screen in there. Watch until the end to see me bugging Javier by phoning him up using the phone and him getting a bit annoyed because it wasn't the first try.

Thank you! You can call it "creative commons" but we are going to invent our own license and call it "trade free" (TF) - we will explain in detail what that means but basically anyone is free to access our materials without them giving us anything in return (thus, trade free) - no money, no currency or cryptocurrency, no data, no attention (like we don't display ads), and we don't care about location, religion, or anything else. That's what we are going to develop, a "trade free" license. Also, anyone is free to download our materials, edit, re-upload anywhere, etc. - under the same TF license. Needless to say all of that is "open source", else you cannot check if they are "trade free" of not (like if we collect data for instance). May sound weird but this is something we are cooking for the past 8+ years. - And I am in love with Open Source Software. Even the books we make are done in LibreOffice Draw and available as TF Draw projects, PDF, and plain text for anyone to download, edit, view. Anyways, sorry for the long reply. The short answer for your question would be: you can say that our materials are under "creative commons license" even though we never felt the need to specify this.

I use Kdenlive for all animations (and cutting too) on the portal Metrobus. The videos are in czech, but you can just show the graphics – it's really done using only Inkscape and Kdenlive.

Here's a playlist of videos from a project I'm currently working on! All videos from this project are edited and exported to it's final form using Kdenlive.
I use more free/open source software for this project, like Blender, Krita and GIMP. And it's actually an experiment on how far I can go using only free/open source software in creating my film/video productions.

The videos are fairly simple - some static pictures, videos from a few different cameras and some basic effects (fade in/fade out). Sometimes we've combined kdenlive with audacity to be able to filter the sound from background noises.

Your Trade Free license sounds a lot like a CC0: https://creativecommons.org/share-your- ... omain/cc0/

Developing a valid license is always tricky, as you probably know by now, and usually requires the help of a specialised lawyer, plus there are already too many of them. It looks to me like CC0 would cover all you needs.

Oh! Take a look at Scribus!: https://www.scribus.net/

It is great for layout, totally open source and the file format is pure XML, so easy to parse. Scribus is much more efficient than LibreOffice for producing good looking documents. It is the Indesign of the FLOSS world. You'll love it!

Okay, but if you don't quote the license explicitly for each work, legally they are under a standard. restrictive copyright license. That is the default. You may want to look into that asap. Years of editing and writing for magazines have taught me: "No license? Do not touch!"
