Hello all,

I've been using KDEnlive now for a few years for various projects, but my most recent work is a series. Basically in 2017 I walked from the southern tip of Spain to Vienna. I had 4 months off, sitting out the winter back home in the UK and now I'm in the process of walking from Vienna down the Balkan peninsula to the bottom of Greece, then across Crete and Cyprus (I write this from Bucharest).

I'm self-filming a documentary series along the way, which will eventually be 10 episodes long. The first two episodes are currently online (edited on my 4 month break) with episode 1 at:

As far as workflow goes, I first watched and logged all my footage and audio in a single project file, then for each episode copied that project file and deleted everything that wasn't from that episode's country and used that to create a rough cut of that episode. I created a rough cut of each episode 1-5 before going back and finalising episode 1,which is why it took 4 months to cut 2 episodes.

The title sequence took a couple of days to complete but is something I'm kinda pleased with, though it will be getting an overhaul for episodes 5-10. Hopefully it helps to set the tone and preview future episodes.

Anyway sorry for the long post, to summarise Kdenlive is a great tool, a big thank you to the developers!

Folks, so much cool stuff out there with kdenlive....

I switched from a commercial editor to kdenlive in 2014 and since then create all my travel videos with linux tools: kdenlive supported by gimp, blender, audacity mainly. Meanwhile I have 4 "big" vacation videos and a few smaller, where the smaller are <1hr and the bigger between 1:30 and 3:00+ (yes, I compete with lord of the rings (only in length of course ))

Hello! I am from Argentina and I would like to share with you my first edition made with kdenlive. He has mistakes ... I am learning, little by little. But it makes me happy to have found a great alternative to the proprietary software I used to use.
For the initial titles I used OpenShot.
I used Kdenlive for the titles that appear during the video and for all the video and sound editing.
It is a video made with a VHS camera (and backstage recorded with a cell phone).

Hi, I've been a film hobbyist for about 8 years and have been using Kdenlive as my main editing application for that whole time. Most of my videos are short films and music videos. All of them are in Estonian but some of them also have English subtitles.

In addition to Kdenlive I've been using Blender and Gimp for visual effects, Audacity for sound work and some other programs for small tweaks here and there (sometimes just for testing purposes).

The screen is split in four, so the playing of all tracks can be seen. When one of the four screen parts is "idle", it is used for extra information, or the sequencer program is shown (in sync with the song).

WORKFLOW

1. Creating the audio of the song
   The recording, mixing and mastering was done with a DAW (MIDI sequencer) and took me three months.
   
2. Recording the video
   When the audio was final, I could film my hands. While the audio played I matched my finger movements to the audio. So my hands "playback". While the keys are correct, their sound is not used. When you look closely, you'll sometimes see my fingers be "out of sync" with the audio. This is not an error on Kdenlive's part or editing sloppiness on my part. It's just extremely difficult to replay a musical phrase in the *exact* timing as I recorded it earlier!
   
3. Editing in Kdenlive
   The audio was the "lead", that was "fixed". All videos had to match the audio of the song.

Recording the videos and editing in Kdenlive took me six weeks.

EDITING REMARKS

• I had some problems with positioning the four simultaneous videos, resulting in four slightly different sized streams. It couldn't get it pixel perfect. Therefore I created a transparent picture in GIMP with only a full screen black "plus-sign" in it and put that on top of the four streams.
• I used overlays within each of the four streams, like showing the name of the voice used, or the chord, or the pitch bend wheel. At one point I had seventeen (17!) video layers and Kdenlive handled it perfectly.

At the end, at 3:11, I show all hardware and software used (all open source).

IN CLOSING
This was my first Kdenlive project and it allowed my to get to know Kdenlive well. I have been using it since for all my editing projects.

WORKFLOW
Song was recorded and produced using a DAW.
The heart in the picture was designed in inkscape.
The overall picture was finished in GIMP Image Editor.
A series of .png images with each part of the lyrics and the refrain, "Mama I Love You" translated to various languages using Google Translate.
The text on each picture was done by hand in GIMP Image Editor.
Year count up was built in Natron.
The Lyrics were aligned with the song using Kdenlive Windows.
The final rendering was done by Kdenlive Windows.

NOTES
Used Affine tool for most fades.
Used .png files since Kdenlive Windows only rendered .png images not .jpeg images back then.
Used Gradient tool at the beginning for unintended but much enjoyed effect.

I produced a documentary a couple of years ago as a personal goal. I did all the editing in kdenlive for almost everything. I used Natron to generate the scrolling end credits.

The documentary is about Ernie Jimenez, a man who set out to break the world distance record for iron-sights rifle shooting.

In 2014, I recorded a Pink Floyd tribute concert performed by members of a local band. The band leader had suddenly died, so everyone who had worked with him put on this show to pay tribute to his life and his passion.

I recorded the show with four cameras and used kdenlive to mix the video from those cameras with an excellent soundboard recording.

I've been the primary videographer for the Perl Foundation's North America conferences since 2016. All presentation videos are edited using kdenlive. Most of the presentations include video of the presenter (AVCHD video) composited with a FHD recording of their slide presentation (captured by an AGPTek HDMI game recorder.)

This is a short video about the basic skate's tricks I made for my university, audiovisual production. I recorded all what I need with my video camara Canon T3i, set on 60fps to get a cool slow motion, and them I put all together in Kdenlive, adding just some transitions and speed motion effect.
