My First Time Rendering a 4K Video

Tue Jan 12, 2021 3:24 pm
Hello there,

I've just edited, rendered and published a 4K video for the first time using Kdenlive 20.12.0.

It's 8 minutes long. Most of it is at 3x Speed. There's a curtain or bar transition 8 seconds in. All 3 acts has a fade in and fade out transition and text at the end. Two tracks used to fade in and fade out the music.

It took about 5 hours to render using the MP4 preset with the quality set at 23, the speed to Medium and hardware acceleration¹ checked.

It took YouTube 24 hours to process the HD but the 4K is 2160p.

My computer is an Acer Swift1 with Intel Pentium Quad Core, Intel HD Graphics, eMMC 64GB and 4 GB DDR3 L.

Thank you for your attention 🙂,

Stephen

¹CORRECTION

I've written Hardware Encoder. I meant to say Parallel Processing. My bad. Hardware Encoding is for Vaapi or nvidia chips only.

Not Intel ones. Kdenlive does not recognise this.
