Hi everyone!
I recently updated kdenlive from 0.8.6(linux mint 13 default) to 0.9.6(using sunab ppa), it seems to run fine, but one thing that doesn't work as it should is video capture from ffmpeg. In older version there was video4linux instead of ffmpeg in the source selection. When I record the video, it seems fine, with only exception, that the video is delayed by 1-2 seconds(that wasn't in old version). When I play the saved video after recording, the video is blacked out, only sound is present. That wasn't in the old version. Both record video and record sound flags are checked. As I said, I use Linux Mint 13 32bit, kdenlive 0.9.6, I can rollback, but I need denoiser, which wasn't in the older version. I already upgraded ffmpeg to the latest version, but no result. What could it be? |

The recent Kdenlive versions capture through MLT, and you can select which encoding profile you want. Depending on your computer's power, some codecs might be too heavy for real time or there might be incompatibilities (some codecs don't allow some frame rates).
Check in Kdenlive's settings dialog > Capture > Ffmpeg You can edit the recording profile or create a new one using the "config" button (see screenshot below) For example you could try mpeg4 encoding if framerate is your problem, something like: f=mp4 acodec=aac ab=128k ar=44100 vcodec=mpeg4 minrate=0 vb=4000k mbd=2 trellis=1 mv4=1 with extension .mp4 |

The problem is not with framerate, but that the video itself is "absent" - video is all black. However, I'll try playing with those settings and will post if anything comes out of it.
P.S. Yep, I created new profile as you suggested, it works now. Some kind of magic. |
