There was a misunderstanding.  Problem gone :)

I followed these instructions for an alternative repository:

Ubuntu Intrepid

After contacting Ubuntu packagers, it seems that Jaunty packages will never enter backports. Therefore it is recommended to install Kdenlive using alternative repositories. Here is our recommended choice:

1. Go to your system menu > Software sources > Third-Party Software


2. Click add and paste this line in:
   
   deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/baudm/ubuntu intrepid main


3. Close software source and click reload

Then type:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install kdenlive dvgrab frei0r swh-plugins

And I got this on Konsole:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

  kdenlive: Depends: kdebase-runtime (>= 4:4.1.2) but 4:4.0.3-0ubuntu2 is to be installed

            Depends: kdelibs5 (>= 4:4.1.3) but 4:4.0.3-0ubuntu5.2 is to be installed

EDIT:  Although I'm using konsole I'm using GNOME desktop.
