Per instructions on the download page at kdenlive.org, I added sunab's ppa to my software sources and tried to upgrade using:
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install kdenlive The result? Package dependency hell. ~~~ sudo apt-get install kdenlive Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: kdenlive: Depends: kdebase-runtime (>= 4:4.4.5) but 4:4.4.2-0ubuntu4.1 is to be installed Depends: kdelibs5 (>= 4:4.4.5) but 4:4.4.2-0ubuntu4 is to be installed E: Broken packages ~~~ Please advise. I'm having trouble importing long audio files, but by forum policy, I won't be able to ask those questions until completing an upgrade... which I completely understand, just want to make sure I'm doing things right. really what you should have done first is completely removed all things like FFMPEG, melt, kdenlive, ffmpeg libraries. Then added his repo, done an update, then done an install of Kdenlive. I am using Sunab's ppa for ubuntu 10.04 along with medibuntu lucid-staging repo for the ffmpeg libraries. I can render to mp4 which is h264/acc codec. Good luck
