Hello

I'm pretty new to the mac environment and no experience wiith X11 or the terminal but have managed to install the macports, X11 and Kdenlive, using the instructions from the following:
http://www.kdenlive.org/user-manual/downloading-and-installing-kdenlive/pre-compiled-packages/mac-os-x-packages-macports

I found a Youtube movie with the following instructions...The reason I mention Youtube is that I had problems getting this to work from the instructions above.

"you should install macports first then type the following commands"

sudo su
port -d selfupdate
port -u upgrade outdated
port install kdenlive

This seems to have worked so far....BUT, after reading the Post-Install instructions and typing them into the terminal:

sudo chown -R $USER ~/Library/Preferences/KDE, I receive the error
chown: -/Library/Preferences/KDE: No such file or directory
bash-3.2$

Can someone please help me!

Thanks

Andy

THIS PROBLEM IS NOW SOLVED! If anybody is interested...

I managed to install and did the following with the POST INSTALL instructions...

I started from the second command - since there seemed to be a problem with the first one - no directory.
So, typed in the remaining commands...

sudo launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.freedesktop.dbus-system.plist
sudo chown $USER /Library/LaunchAgents/org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plist
launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchAgents/org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plist
open -a kdeinit4

The installation window appeared and I've followed the steps...

One item didn't load - some kind of movie player. I can't actually remember what it was but pretty sure there will be a solution.

That's as far as I've got just now, thanks for reading.

Andy
