After being able to compile KDENLIVE successfully a few days ago on Ubuntu (not Kubuntu) 8.10, this morning I downloaded the latest versions with Kdenlive Builder Wizard and I have had the same error compiling. |

This error is usually resolved under ubuntu 8.10 by enabling backports, then doing a "sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade". I am *not* sure you need to enable backports for kubuntu, try the sudo ... stuff first, if it does not help, try enabling backports. Regards Mads |

I am not a big fan of enabling backports and upgrading all my packages to unstable/non tested versions...do you know which package needs an update ? regards |

Unfortunately, I have not had the problem myself, (I run Kubuntu, and it appears that it is not affected?). One user did test with cmake, but this was not enough/not that. I believe it is probably something related to kde4? Is there a way to tell for ubuntu (for a kubuntu user) what packages are updated in backports? I am also annoyed by this. AFAIK it worked fine in Ubuntu 8.04, but not in 8.10. Needless to say, if you find out, I would be very happy to learn about it. |

We just need an Ubuntu user without backports, to enable it, update but not upgrade, and tell us what synaptic says will be upgraded. I'm sure with this list, you could likely figure out the most likely packages. Any Ubuntu users willing to do their part for Free Desktop Video Editing? (tm) |

I am currently using Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex 8.10, and after having enable backports and updated various kde libraries, the svn version compiles fine. |

I hereby nominate marcozambi as official Kdenlive Hero of the Day (tm)... Good thing, too given that there's only so many times we can nominate JB / Dan / Mads or JMP! |

smashing ! I was first reluctant to this solution, but not finding any other (exept by installing mandriva 2009, which include Kdenlive 0.7 by default) I jumped ! thanks for your help ! regards |

From other sources, I have learned that supposedly only the following packages needs updating (from backports): Quote:
kdelibs5-dev package is affected. |
