I just recently upgraded from REV 5523 (0.7.9) to REV 5568 (0.8.1) via the Builder Wizard. Now when I preview my project in the project monitor, the video in some of the clips freezes while the audio plays fine. It also renders the same way. When I physically drag the cursor through the clip on the timeline, the video moves normally but if I "play" it, the video freezes as if the clip were a still image. I can't figure out why some clips freeze and others don't. A few bouts of trial and error proved unsuccessful. Don't know if it's my installation of Kdenlive or Kdenlive itself. Does anyone else have this problem? This problem is present only in my REV 5568 and not in REV 5523. Both Revisions use MLT 0.7.1 which was installed automatically with the Builder Wizard. Any help would be appreciated.

If it happens in render as well, then it is highly unlikely that a kdenlive change caused it, but you said Mlt did not change. How about FFmpeg?

How do I check what version of FFmpeg I'm running? The config wizard tells me what version of MLT I have but it doesn't give the version number for FFmpeg.

I guess my ffmpeg did change between revisions. How do I compile the older ffmpeg into Kdenlive 0.8 with the Builder Wizard?

Hey waynvid, I have the same (I think) freezing problem as you. I was experiencing Kdenlive crashes with 0.8, so pulled the build script and built it locally. I have 0.8.1 with mlt 0.7.2. Initially, I let it pull all the latest software. I have a slide show built with 667 images, transitions, & music. The music seems to play fine but the cursor freezes when I play via the spacebar.
I created a build-kdenlive.conf in the same directory as build-kdenlive.sh and put in: FFMPEG_REVISION=ffmpeg-0.6.3 and then cleaned and rebuilt. Running ./20110506/bin/ffmpeg -version showed the correct version. This didn't help. I changed the rev to: FFMPEG_REVISION=v0.6.1 and then cleaned and rebuilt. Running ./20110506/bin/ffmpeg -version showed the correct version. This didn't help, either. In both cases I made sure the Kdenlive Config Wizard showed 0.7.2 for mlt. So, I think I can confirm your symptoms in case the info helps track it down. Cary |
