Installing render profiles manually

Sat Sep 14, 2013 9:31 am
Hello,

I'm running kdenlive on VirtualBox ( ubuntu setup - host: windows ). Everything works fine and I'm able to render my first vid.
Now I know I can download different render profiles, problem is that when I go to Settings->Download new Render Profiles it will just hang at "Loading data". But it actually never loads anything. It's safe to assume that there are some network issues with Virtualbox ( internet works in the firefox browser though ).

So Is there a way to download a profile and install it manually? I can't find the script that represents the "Youtube 720p optimized" profile either.
( If the Add-On installer needs certain ports fowarded, perhaps that could solve my problem too? ).

Na, none of that download stuff works for me either since they moved servers for the Forum. So, no idea what's happening there.

For youtube, in the Render window just click on " destinations" and scroll down to websites then down to youtube 1280x720. In Render, change the scanning from "auto" to "Force progressive"

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply,

I tried that profile and it came out pretty pixelated...
But i'll try with the progressive stuff and see if that works.

Cheers.

I personally never use those profiles, I usually upload then full spec. and let them encode them. If I were to try and render to youtube 720p, I would use H264, and in Render > change scanning to "Force Progressive" > Video bitrate to "5000" > select "2 pass" > select Rescale and enter "1280" x "720"

Try a selected zone render to test what it looks like.

Hey, you never actually said what your clips are, HD "mts", SD or whatever, so as the old saying goes > "You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear" :-)

They are MTS at 1280x720p 60 frames. But I render it on 30 frames.

I guess rendering to a different format works too, their servers need to process it anyways.
Thanks.

Edit:

MPEG-4/AAC seems to work best for me.
