I just installed kdenlive on Linux Mint 15 from the software centre, which now says it's installed. There is no menu entry for it anywhere, so I removed it and tried again. Same result, even after a reboot. So I ran

/usr/share/linuxmint/mintinstall/icons/kdenlive.xpm
/usr/share/linuxmint/mintinstall/installed/kdenlive.xpm

and tried to run

/usr/share/linuxmint/mintinstall/installed/kdenlive.xpm

from the command line. This gives me "Permission denied."

Is it really so hard to run?

Edit: I ran

add-apt-repository ppa:sunab/kdenlive-release && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install kdenlive


but the results are the same - I cannot start the program...

The executable is called 'kdenlive'. Find that file and you should be good to go...

The file you have attempted to run is an icon - and won't have executable permissions (hence why access was denied).
