Hi to all,

I am receiving an error which has been acknowledged in the past, but I can't seem to fix it. I have compiled and installed using the setup guide for KF5 from the following link:
https://community.kde.org/Kdenlive/Development/KF5

The error I receive is the following:

cannot find .rc file "kdenliveui.rc" for component "kdenlive"
Segmentation fault (core dumped)


I have searched around for a solution and have found the following link:
https://community.kde.org/Kdenlive/Development (Under "Environment Variables")
As I have installed Kdenlive to a build directory, I have to change where the environment variable KDEDIRS points, but even when I change it to /usr/local, the problem persists.
The command mentioned in said link ( strace build/src/kdenlive 2>&1 | grep kdenliveui.rc ) returns nothing.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Try typing:

'locate kdenliveui.rc'

The first directory is the KF5 build I have, the second and third are related to the first build I had, with the original Qt4 installation.
I am not sure what to make of this...do you know what the problem may be?

Did you do a 'make install' after the build?

If I'm not mistaken, the Kdenlive built by build_kdenlive.sh is the KF5 version. You may already have what you're looking for in /home/nemesis/kdenlive/20150601. Have you tried that version?

If you're still out of luck then you'll need to take apart the start-kdenlive.sh script and figure out your 'export' settings..

Hi Steve, sorry for taking long to reply, but are you sure that the "build_kdenlive.sh" script builds kdenlive for KF5? Because I think that it is still using QT4, and if I were in KF5, it should be using QT5, right?

Is there a way to knowing for sure if my current build is using Qt4 or 5?

You're right !!! I should try it before I suggest it !!!

That script builds a Qt4 version on Kubuntu 15.04. Useful but not what you want. Here's what I did to get Qt5/KF5.

I used the build_kdenlive script to build up a version in a sandbox. I then referred to the instructions at https://community.kde.org/Kdenlive/Development/KF5 to build MLT and Kdenlive w/ Qt5/KF5 enabled.

Be sure to do an 'export INSTALL_PREFIX=/wherever/your/install/root/is...' before you issue any commands that reference '$INSTALL_PREFIX'.

Another thing to note is that the current GIT head for Kdenlive does not build. The most recent commit seems to have broken the build system. Therefore, grab a snapshot from the penultimate release here http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kdenlive.git&a=commit&h=4a99b141fb96df255b9d41be674a6401f95e2989 I downloaded a .zip file and extracted it to a directory called kdenliveQt5 within the build_kdenlive tree. I then compiled that version using the instructions referenced above.
