Hi,
I have search the net and read other posts in many forums, but are unable to find a solution.

Case,
I have just installed:
- kubuntu 16.04LTS 64b.
- Kdenlive Version 16.04.3

issue:
Kdenlive do not see connected firewire device and the record / capture monitor is missing.
(as there are other posts on this issue, not solved, I will not explain further). :)

Before i used kubuntu 14.04LTS 32b , and Kdenlive worked fine with firewire.

What have I checked, based on suggestions in other posts:
- firewire device i seen by system.
- DVgrab works fine from konsole, see and capture from firewire, no issue. (used "dvgrab --autosplit")

- I have followed the guide, but I do not have the shown "record monitor" .. : https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manual/Capturing
The + sign and pull down menu (Screen capture, webcam), do not show the firewire device.
The setup is as shown: https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manua ... re_Capture
- oxygen5-icon-theme is installed
- melt_6.3.0+git201607241850~ubuntu16.04.1_amd64 is installed

Please help.
If any extra info is requisted please do hesitate to ask. (Please specify what command the run. as I am still learning Linux :) ).

Thanks
br.

Hi all,

same for me with new installed Fedora 24
this morning using Fedora 22 no problem. On cmd using dvgrab also no problem - only kdenlive cannot find a firewire device.

Hi Guys,
Just noticed this response in another forum..

It looks like the developers is active there..

I do not know if it helps requisting it back there, but write a note to them, so they kan see others is missing a program that supports firewire in K-Ubuntu Ec.:

It is about 40 down the page.

I faced same thing. So the thing seems to be that fireware capture was lost in code refactoring/porting due to lack of manpower. See: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361597 and the comment section of the latest release as linked in previous post. I added quick note about this into manual.

But was all other capture methods or the whole capture fuctionality removed?
