Hi there , this is the weirdest thing in the world. I have manjaro linux on two machines, a think pad and a tower, the thinkpad manjaro has kdenlive installed and it works like charm on the tower i have the same distro and kernel installed, but when i try to start kdenlive i just get a segfault and no further infos of what i could do. .what am i missing? i use kdenlive 16.07.70 (I also tried with 16-08-8, same result..)
I also deleted the config file in .local/share/kdenlive but no success.. maybe there s some kde thing i m missing? I have all dependencies installed, weird thing is , that there doesnt seem to be a .kde folder in home for configs... EDIT: The problem remains, so one question would be: How can i completely uninstall kdenlive with the config files? When I uninstall i think the config files stay in place and so i keep running into the same crash... |

the only real software difference is that i m using the proprietary nvidia drivers on the desktop and the open source drivers on the laptop...

One thing to try: rename/move/delete ~/.config/kdenliverc.
If that helps, you could try changing settings and restarting afterwards, to see the cause. I'm guessing GPU Playback is enabled and it causes the problem but it's really just a guess. PS: also read https://plus.google.com/b/1046835522584 ... c?sfc=true - this seems possibly related. |

Thanks qubodup for your suggestions!
is there a way to start kdenlive without gpu acceleration enabled? I deleted the config files as you described but problem remains.. is there somekind of a safe mode i can start kdenlive in? Thanks |

Hello,
To check if this is a packaging/installation problem, you may try the AppImage from kdenlive.org/download |

I have libvorbis installed on my machine, but maybe it is not in the app...? is there an alternative audio codec i can use for the proxies instead (in h264)? |

Appears that JB forgot to include vorbis in appimage.
Change your proxies profile to use another codec: don't use VBR audio or you may face sync problems between proxies/real export. pcm_s16le can be a good one (or maybe mp2 192kbps) |

Then if you want to debug your system install, you could check what packages may be missing on the failing system compared to the working one.
From the log you posted, do you have breeze-icons installed, breeze, maybe (overkill) plasma-workspace or whatever the package name? (installing kinit/kded etc)... |

Yeah it would be great to debug my system install...
i got installed all packages kdenlive depends on (I think) and also had just for a try installed kde desktop and plasma and booted with kde, but did not make a difference.. is there something more i can test? I also thought it would depend on my proprietary graphics drivers but I changed back to the nouveau driver and the problem remained.. ;( |
