Hey, after I installed KDEnlive, I was having alot of crashing. I'm using ubuntu GNOME 16.04

After looking for a better editor and not finding one, I dug in and checked Synaptic. The MLT libraries needed to be updated. Probably because I'm using the kdenlive PPA.

After updating those in Synaptic, it was much more stable. You might find there is a missing step in install (sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade && sudo apt-get install ...)
