I have a project from 10 years ago. The current version of kdenlive can't open this as a project, nor, is it able to load it as a clip. Is there is still some way to convert this ancient project so that I can do additional editing on it now?

The beginning of the .kdenlive file looks like this:
Code: Select all
<westley>
 <kdenlivedoc version="0.6" >
  <properties videoprofile="dv_pal" metadata="" projectratio="1.09259" timeline_position="24200" projectfolder="/media/disk/anniversary" projectvideoformat="dv_pal" projectfps="25" projectheight="576" outpoint="12811" projectwidth="720" inpoint="12810" projectdisplayratio="1.33333" />
...

Thanks.

are you using the same language of the OS ? the project come from an English/American OS...
btw i think that on 10 years the project-file structure was changed a lot of times, very hard to manually modify original project to become 2017 compatibile.

Yes, the OS language is English/American as well.

I understand that in 10 years, a lot has changed. I'm just hoping that there is an upgrade process that I could still use to take my ancient project into the present. I still appreciate any help I can get!

I believe I remove upgrade from <0.7 in 17.08 as the code was not clean, triggering compiler & analyzer warnings, too lazy to fix that code I believed useless /o\.
So if you manage to install a version between 0.9 and 17.04 (eg via Appimage) you should be able load your old project, save it to a more recent format.
Then back to modern version you should be able to open the project.
