I'm just getting started with KDenlive and I'll try not to be a pia. But the first thing I tried to do, and the reason I am using KKdenlive, is create a proxy clip.
I immediately got "Failed to create proxy clip. FFmpeg not found, please set path in Kdenlive's settings environment". I know this is a stupid, simple setting. But where do I set it and what do I set? And then I will go away and just play with working with some videos for days! Thank you and happy new year, all! |

I assume you work on Linux.
Please try with the current Kdenlive AppImage version 18.12.0e https://files.kde.org/kdenlive/release/ Run the Appimage from the terminal (press CTRL + ALT + T). Move to the AppImage folder and run the .AppImage: ./Kdenlive*.AppImage |

Hit CTR+SHIFT+, (comma) -> Environement -> tab MLT -> Make sure the first entry has the same path as the entries below.
In version 18.08 -> ~/Kdenlive/ffmpeg.exe In version 18.12.0 -> C:/Program Files/kdenlive/bin/ffmpeg.exe

Merlimau, thank you for this. But for now this problem is on the back burner (irrelevant?) I started this thread when I had Kdenlive working for the 14 minutes that it did. As you know from my other thread I am back to not getting it installed. Gotta get that fixed, if possible, first. Thanks. |

It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out what the censored keystroke was. |
