I thought I had everything installed for Kdenlive, but when I try to Project>Add Clip or Folder>2019028_172815.mp4, it gives me an orange box in "Project Bin" that says "Cannot open file /home/mschumacher/Downloads/20191028_17815.mp4"
I've done "Settings>Run Config Wizard" and everything reports okay. Versions: OpenSUSE Leap 15.0; MLT: 6.16.0; Kdenlive: 19.08.1 I've been looking for solutions and haven't found anything that guides me in the correct direction. Thought I'd change the permissions on the mp4 files, but that has no effect. If you need more information, please let me know what you need and I'll update this post. Thanks, Michael |

the only thing i can suggest is to place the MP4 on home/user folder , check the file permissions (but i think these was right)
an re-try to load.. if the file can't be loaded again.. can be nice to have this file to make some tests. |

I had exactly same problem. I cannot add any clip to project. I'm using kdenlive from debian bookworm. In bullseye all worked fine. Is not a problem of permission. All files I've tried to add, in any format, mkv, mp4, mp3, any audio, any video are in my home and I'm de owner.
The problem was that with de upgrade there were some missing packages maybe not evaluated fine as dependencies. I'm not using Suse, but maybe this can help you: To solve the issue I opened kdenlive from shell and I saw at the very begining something like:
So I've installed libavfilter7 package:
Then open again kdenlive on shell and I saw:
So I installed libavdevice58 package:
I hope this help you to solve your issue with your package manager!! Sorry by my bad english! Best Regards Mariano |
