I know that the windows version seems to work fine but I am a new user and was wondering why things have stopped working either on the the MacPorts side or why there isn't development of an actual Mac app? Just kinda sucks.

The only reason is nobody in our team has a Mac.
We are not in contact with MacPorts people.
I've heard there is a KDE-brew repository, which maintainer did contact us once regarding kdenlive. Maybe this is the best option at the moment.
It used to be possible to build Kdenlive on Mac with KDE Craft build system, but really not sure it still works.

Is there a possiblity that I could help with the Mac version because I only know very basic coding and want to see a mac version that is as easy as the windows version to install.
