Rendering crash - Ubuntu 20.04

Fri May 20, 2022 12:58 pm
Hi, just recently installed Kdenlive... I had two attempts at install - first went the snap route: $ sudo snap install kdenlive

that install gave an error about the preview not being possible on startup, then crashed

tried to uninstall snap install but couldn't, so did new install using:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kdenlive/kdenlive-stable

$ sudo apt update

$ sudo apt install kdenlive

(I now have two versions of kden live on my system)

The 2nd version runs OK, but I get an error when trying to render, it just says render crashed.

Any ideas as to how I might fix this problem?

just did $sudo apt upgrade

both versions of kdenlive disappeared.

re-installed via ppa method

now kdenlive just crashes completely (i.e. closes down) when trying to render

Hi!

No idea about kdenlive, but Ubuntu 20.04 ships the EOL Qt5.12, so I suggest you to use a more recent version which ships Qt6 and the Qt5.15-"keepalive" (Qt5PatchCollection) maintained by the KDE Community.
