Plasma5 panel and intellihide

Sat Jan 24, 2015 9:52 pm
Hello

I would like to add an intellihide option to the plasma panel. I can think of two different ways that I can go about this:

1. Check out the plasma panel source and add in the option. In order to do this I would need to find the plasma source, which I am having a hard time doing.
2. Extend the plasma container widget and make it an "Intellihide Panel". To add it to the desktop activity I would just select an "Intellihide panel" option that would be next to the "Default panel" and "Empty panel" options.

I like option #2 the best. I don't know how to approach it though. Are there any examples on how to extend the functionality of the panel? Also, where can I find the source to the Plasma framework?

Thanks

So reading through the posts, I see that Window can Cover is supposed to emulate this functionality. However I think this functionality is either broken or it has changed for plasma5. The window will cover the panel, but hovering my mouse over where the panel is supposed to be does not bring the panel to the front. Whereabouts to I go to peruse bugs and/or submit them.

Thanks

I miss the old panel with the "window can cover" feature.
