nvclock -> solid plugin

Sun Mar 29, 2009 7:27 pm
i think many users have problems with monitor dimming and fan-regulation. so i want to ask wheather it is possible to integrate the nvclock-backend as plugin to kde-solid? so if hal-dimming is not possible the user might be able to use smartdimmer.

It would only be possible if NVClock also provided information on all hardware, regardless of what it is, or who manufactured it. This could be worked around by forwarding requests for that information to HAL however...

hmm, i think this is a problem. i was interested in writing a plasmoid for nvclock and created some cmakelists for that project. it seemed that including it to hal was the best idea. but i dont think this tool get integrated in hal (i think its reverse engeneered :-$ but pssssssssst). but writing a plugin.. getting information from hal and using functions from nvclock is like writing code around a problem ): not very smooth.
