Watched the video on this today and it looks like it could have a very workable model for integrating email, blogs, microblogs and so on. Although the target is a "web5" application there seems to be an intention to make it open and extensible. Also it currently requires a client app because some things can't be implemented in hmtl5. Perhaps the Kontact developers might want to take a look / keep an eye out...

Hmmm....Yes, I do like the idea of it. One intergrated interface for many things, instead of half a dozen for others.
It may not be to everyone's tastes, I admit. But I would love it for this to be a 'mode' for the Kontact suite.

how do you think this can be integrated into kontact???
somehow can't imagine. But i am also very excited about google wave. So far i am always sceptic if google pulls out another thing that may make you use google only (search engine, browser, os, messanger, mails etc.) - but as wave is planned to be released as open source i am really looking forward to it. If i understand it right it is based on xmpp (jabber). Right now i don`t know how it can be integrated into existing projects (or even replace) - but a programm like this somehow collaborating with kontact/kmail/kadressbook, kopete and stuff would be a nice thing. Would be great to start a discussion of the possibilities, pros and cons. So - for everyone not knowing what it is about - some links: A few links about Google Wave: A guide A video of the presentation (shortcut 10min) Google Wave Page - includes full video of presentation (80min) Developers Blog Already a whole blog about Wave - which also show the only critical things i found so far (article - 5 things wrong with google wave) A quite good german description (includes a good feature overview) |
