Hopefully this is an appropriate place for this post - if not, please move it.
I've been doing some non-KDE desktop themeing work, primarily for personal use, and I ended up using some modified icons from the "mono" theme, which pacman says is part of kdeaccessibility. The package itself is listed as GPL, but I wanted to clarify the license terms of the icons themselves, before I release the source files for the artwork I've done. Specifically, is there any conflict with licensing my derivative work under CC-By-NC-SA? Screenshots of the theme, illustrating the use of the device icons can be found here.
Thanks

According to http://drupal.org/node/143795 the GPL and CC-By-NC-SA are not compatible:
It basically depends on the original license. For instance, a CC BY NC SA 3.0 license is not compatible with the GPL, because the GPL does not include such a restriction as the "NC" clause.

You may wish to contact the author of the icons themselves for clarification however, since they may grant an exception.

Thanks for clarifying. The author of the other work in question granted me an exception, so everything's good.

I do love it when things like this are worked out without someone going ahead anyway and causing a rukas. Thanks for asking first.
