Hello,

Being said that :
- I get no problem developing any kind of application using vi, html, javascript, php, C...
- The only guis I developped were thanks to the curses library... >:D
- I know absolutely nothing in QT / KDE development. Nothing meaning absolutely nothing at all. :< :<

I have a small C coded app working well under console and would like to make a low power low cost gui for it. (A plasmoïd ?)

- Am I going to be obliged to opt (an learn) things such as Kdevelop or QT-Creator ? Install subversion ? Learn hundreds of classes, objects...
- Am I going to run into authorization problems because of *kitteries ?
- Is there something like a quick & dirty mode (I do not intend to distribute it) ?

Well... where should I start from, what should I start with...

Thank you for all your wise advices.

You do not need to use a VCS or DVCS system, such as Subversion/Git. Nor do you need to use an IDE such as KDevelop or Qt Creator.

If you want to develop a Plasma Applet, then I would recommend it's Javascript bindings. If you want to display it outside of Plasma, you can use "plasmoidviewer" to launch it.

Documentation with regard to the Javascript bindings and how to install applets locally for development / personal use can be found on techbase.kde.org

Thank you for answering.
I would be happy with Javascript but the javascript implementations I am used to (browser's) forbid to read/write local files. (Apart from cookies).
I need to access a couple of local files r+w, will this be possible with plasma's javascript implementation ?

Plasma permits this I believe, using it's LocalIO permission.

While I believe you don't have to spend too much time learning a lot of details for your aim, I strongly suggest you to have a look at DVCS, Qt (please be aware: Qt is different from QT) and Kdevelop. It can be very useful.
