Keyframes for effects

Mon Oct 19, 2009 10:17 pm
Hi,
I have not checked all effects, but it seems that at the moment only the "Volume" audio-effect and the "Composite" video transition is keyframeable. This extremely limits the usability of these effects, one can only apply static effects to whole clips. Are there any plans to implement this feature?
I used cinelerra before, and it had this nice feature, that all of the effects were adjustable in length, keyframeable, etc (only the UI was very slow and cumbersome, and it liked to crash during the final rendering, after a loooong editing work, so I decided to never start it again)

Thanks

I believe that this feature is already under consideration for all FX in Kdenlive. Meanwhile you can use the Razor tool to split a track into separate sections for their own effects. It works fine for me, with no video or audio glitching, though I agree that fx delimitation would be better via keyframes.

Best,

This is a workaround, but a very poor one:
- if I want to change the length of the effect, it is very cumbersome to
rejoin the razored clips, and re-razor them at some other point
- it does not give the possibility to make a smooth transition of the parameters
of the effects between the keypoints (like smooth changing of transparency, rotation
of the clip, position of the clip, or any other effects)

What I liked in cinelerra was exactly this possibility, the complete freedom to make time-dependent effects. What I did not like was that it very frequently crashed when trying to render the final project, after several days of work, making my whole work just useless...
