Transparent title and dissolving

Wed Jul 22, 2009 8:56 am
Hello friends,

I need a hand here: I want to fade in/out text with transpareny over a video.

So..In the first track I have a png with transparency, in the 2nd track there is the video. To display the text over the video, I add a composite effect (clip settings -> transparent background).

The text is now shown over the video, which is nice. But I can no longer at a dissolve transition, so that the text blends in/out smoothly. Is there any solution to this?

thanks for any help,

J.

The composite transition should offer all you need.

Here are the necessary steps (in the composite transition settings):

1) add a new keyframe at the end of the transition (use the button with "new document" icon to add a keyframe)
2) change opacity for that end keyframe, setting it to 0 means completely transparent.

You will now have a fading title. Of yourse you can always add more keyframes in between for a better control.

Something I was wondering all time: Why is the effect required at all? I mean, when I select the title background to be transparent, I also expect it to be transparent when adding it. And not to be black.
