Hello,
I've been using Kdenlive since version 0.7.6 - and recently upgraded it to 0.7.8. My trouble/problem is with Titles - and using them as overlay-text on videoclips. I'm using Kdenlive on 2 different machines - one with PCLinuxOS 2010, and the other with Ubuntu 10.04 - both running the same version of Kdenlive (NO - I'm NOT editing the same movie-projects on both machines....). A typical scenario for my editing is this: a) I'm importing a couple of movie clips first. b) I insert one clip into the Timeline. c) I create a few Titles ... writing a short text (to display ontop of the movie clip). d) I drag the Titles down to the Timeline, below (or above) the movie clip. NOW - TWO things I struggle with: ---------------------------------- 1) In the latest update (0.7.8) - I've found it hard to make the text (Title) be VISIBLE on top of the movie clip when I watch it in the PREVIEW window. Either - it just shows a WHITE picture when it previews the part with both videoclip and Title (not showing the movie, or the Title-text itself) - OR - it just shows the Title-text ("hiding" the videoclip)..... SO, then I experiment with the TITLE's 'Composite' setup under the "Transition" tab ... trying different "Alpha" channel values - I usually find a setup that works FOR THIS TITLE-text only... ==>> Is there a specific setup or way to use it, so that I don't have to FIGHT and STRUGGLE to make i 'work'? 2) Next problem, I have been struggling with this in the last version too (0.7.7). When I have saved my project - and everything looks okay with the TITLES overlaying the video-clips as it should ..... THEN, next time I open the project - the Titles NO LONGER shows up when I preview - OR RENDER (I tried that too!!). Actually - I have to OPEN UP each Title-text in the editor and click "Ok", to make it visible again! I'm quite certain this is not a preview-window problem - because I've tried several times to Render the project, and the Titles are NOT included in the rendered file. But - as I said, if I open each Title-text - then it shows up as it should, even in the Rendered output file. Can someone please help? Am I using the Title-clips & 'Composite' wrong in the Timeline? Or, is it a bug in Kdenlive? Regards, koda |

very weird. when i use the "Add title clip" i always have to put the title clip ABOVE the video track, the composite transition is all fine and dandy by default for me. i never have to play around with any alpha channels or anything. i am using 10.04 lucid lynx with the following version of software.
kdenlive = from lucid repos (7.7.1) melt = from sanub stable kdenlive PPA which only contains melt .5.6 ffmpeg = compiled using google bash script for SVN FFMPEG (FFmpeg version SVN-r25112) x264 = compiled using google bash script for GIT x264 ffmpeg libraries libavfilter etc etc = all -extra versions from Medibuntu repos I don't experience problem number 2 either. not sure what's going on for ya. Here's a sample of my work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFiaj2HXMRA Im only doing 720x480 capture with kino, so not working with HD files if that matters. |
