Ugraded to Ubuntu 10.10, now project playback with video effects is choppy [solved]

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 from 10.4. On 10.4 the project player operated smoothly, the video and audio transitions worked well. After the upgrade the video and audio plays smoothly EXCEPT when a video clip has an effect. Once it hits a video clip with an effect the video playback becomes choppy. When it moves to a video clip with no effect, playback is smooth again.
Here's what I have: IBM Thinkpad T60 Dual core CPU 2.16Ghz 2GB memory Mobility FireGL V5200 I double checked that I have Kdenlive v.0.7.8 and MLT 5.10. I have "Automatic" set for video and audio playback. I tried changing the video playback to X11 with no change. Anyone have any thoughts? Got a video that I need to edit. Obviously I can still edit it but it would sure be nice to not have to render to see the final product. Thanks for any assistance... |

Solved! It occurred to me that perhaps I had my project profile set too high. Sure enough, under "Project > Project Settings" I had it set to "HDV 1440x1080i 25fps". I changed it to "DV/DVD NTSC" and the playback render worked fine. Just don't have enough horses under the hood to play the project at the quality/frame rate.
Posting back here so the next time I have this dumb question I can find my own answer! Long live Kdenlive! |
